Hypercomputation Research Network
July 2007
This site is currently undergoing a major update.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.
NEWS: HyperNet Receives Funding Go-Ahead
EPSRC, the major UK research agency for engineering and the physical sciences, has
agreed to provide funding, for three years, to support the development of a
multidisciplinary, international, Hypercomputation Research Network. Initially
centered around participants at the 2006 Sheffield Workshop, HyperNet is
designed so as to promote expansion of the research base, including the eventual
recruitment of new members into the network. The network will "go live"
in October 2007, and will include support for exchange visits between network members, as well as
regular workshops. We will post more information as it becomes available.
We are currently redesigning this site in preparation for the forthcoming
changes. As a result, some of the information on the site may be out of date, and
in particular, the hypercomputation publication lists are incomplete. Once
completed, the new site will provide online discussion and research facilities,
detailed bibliography with commentaries, and other useful resources for the
hypercomputation research community.

Hypercomputation concerns the study of computation beyond that defined by the Turing machine,
and is also known as super-Turing, non-standard or non-recursive computation. It is a
multi-disciplinary research area with relevance across a wide variety of fields,
including computer science, philosophy, physics, electronics, biology, and artifical
intelligence. Jack Copeland has produced some excellent explanatory material which you may find useful:
